You Can Get A Keto Version Of The Pink Drink At Starbucks

Here’s how to order it!

Good news for carb counters! There’s now a Starbucks hack for ordering their infamous “Pink Drink” that will help you to enjoy your afternoon pick-me-up without ruining your diet.

The pink drink at Starbucks has been a popular menu choice for many years. It’s a Strawberry Acai Starbucks Refreshers™ Beverage made with coconut milk in place of water, and people say it tastes just like a pink Starburst.

And now there’s a keto-friendly way to order the pink drink, meaning you can enjoy your favorite drink without blowing your low-carb diet. Here’s how you order it: Ask for a Starbucks Passion Tango Iced Tea, but in place of milk (which is high in carbs), ask for it to be made with heavy cream. Then request 2-3 pumps of sugar-free vanilla syrup. You can sweeten it further with a little Splenda if you desire.

Instagram user ketomandiekay posted a picture of the end result on her page, and it looks delicious!

A venti Starbucks Passion Tango Iced Tea made with heavy cream in place of water and sugar-free vanilla syrup comes in at 4g of carbs and 22g of fat (yes, that sounds like a lot of fat, but if you’re following the keto diet, you know it’s a high-fat, low-carb diet). Instagram user ohkayeketo explains her ordering process and reveals the carb/fat count in her recent post about the keto-friendly pink drink:

Of course, if you aren’t on a keto diet, then ordering the pink drink this way won’t do wonders for your waistline. If you’re counting calories instead of carbs, consider ordering your favorite iced latte “Skinny,” which means it comes with no whip, nonfat milk and sugar-free syrup. Or try an Iced Starbucks® Blonde Cold Foam Cappuccino, which has 0g of fat and 60 calories.

Isn’t it awesome that there are so many ways to enjoy your favorite Starbucks drink without blowing your own particular diet? Cheers!

Nebraska State Patrol Troopers Formed A Relay To Deliver Medicine To A Sick Child

Disease & Illness

Wow! This story is so heartwarming!

Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol are used to taking life-or-death calls that require a fast response time. However, a recent request had them coming together to race against time to help a child all the way in Colorado.

Doctors at The Children’s Hospital Colorado in Aurora needed a rare medication to help a sick child. Unfortunately, the closest location that had it was in eastern Nebraska.

Typically, officials would simply fly the medication to the hospital, located 540 miles away. However, rough weather prevented commercial and other aircraft from taking off for the quick transport.

That’s when the troopers knew they had to think quickly and creatively.

“All they tell us is there’s a child that really needs this and it’s a critical moment,” Patrol Lieutenant Matt Sutter told the Associated Press.

The child, it turned out, potentially suffered from Naegleria Fowleri, also known as a “brain-eating ameoba” and only the drug known as Impavido could treat the condition.

The clock was ticking and the officers took off on a relay that would spread across hundreds of miles. Parts of the journey were documented on social media by the department.

The convoy started shortly after 10 p.m. local time. First, it traveled by various cars to North Platte, Neb. It included seven troopers along the way. Once the officers were far enough west, the skies cleared and a plane was able to take the medication the rest of the way. The drug arrived at the hospital at about 2 a.m. local time.

The little girl was able to receive the medication and, luckily, doctors determined she did not have the rare condition. However, the drug was still necessary because the illness has a 97-percent risk of fatality, if contracted.

For the troopers involved in this remarkable relay, the outcome was the only thing that mattered — not the time it took to get it done or long distance covered.

“When you put things in that perspective and you use that empathy as your measuring stick it’s amazing how all the resources come together and ultimately do the right thing,” Sutter concluded.

The World’s Highest Glass Bridge Is Opening The World’s Highest Bungee Jump

Yikes! Could you stomach this drop?!

For those who have successfully overcome their fears and walked the world’s highest glass-bottom bridge in China, it’s time to take things up a notch — and bungee off of it.

A new 260-meter-high (853 feet) bungee-jump platform will be added to the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Glass Bridge in August 2018. Once open, it will be the world’s highest bungee jump.

The current record holder is the Macau Tower Bungy Jump, standing at 233 meters (764 feet) above ground.

“What makes the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Bungee Jump special is that the jump will offer some really good views of the unusual landscape of Zhangjiajie,” Joe Chen, deputy general manager of Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Tourism Management, tells CNN Travel. “Thanks to the glass-bottom walkway, visitors on the bridge can just look down and see someone bungee jumping.

“It’ll be different from the Macau Tower Bungy Jump because bungee-jumping off a bridge doesn’t require a guided cable so you’ll have the feeling of free-falling.”

A bungee-themed bar and restaurant at the end of the bridge will allow the fainthearted to participate by ordering bungee-themed drinks and watch daredevils leap off the bridge.

A Pre-Opening Bungee-Jump Challenge

In late May, Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Glass Bridge hosted a Bungee Jump Challenge to promote the attraction.

Bungee enthusiasts from around the world were invited to be the first to try it. Among the lucky jumpers were Ollie Headon of the UK, who has bungee-jumped more than 200 times at more than 20 different bungee sites around the world, and Stephanie Shields, the only female bungee coach in Asia.

The bungee jump is operated by the BungyChina team and Zhangjiajie Retallick Outdoor Sports Co.,Ltd. The latter company was founded by Beau Retallick, who also created BungyJapan, and is a bungee veteran holding multiple records.

Naturally, Retallick also joined the challenge and jumped off the bridge with a mini bicycle.

World’s Longest Swing Coming Soon, Too

Chen said that the scenic park is getting a few other major upgrades in the coming years. A new slide and the world’s longest swing are some of the attractions planned.

The Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Glass Bridge, which opened in 2016, stretches 430 meters over a 300-meter-deep valley between two cliffs in the beautiful Zhangjiajie Park, said to have inspired the scenery for the sci-fi movie “Avatar.”

Designed by Israeli architect Haim Dotan, the glass-bottomed bridge has received 5.9 million visitors since it was open in 2016.

The bridge was closed for two weeks after it first opened to the public because of overwhelming demand. The bridge then reopened with an online reservation system a month later.

Visitors to the bridge can book their tickets on Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon’s official website. Application for bungee jump session will soon open.
