Your kids will love this!

The slime craze is still going strong and Halloween is the perfect time to try out some seasonal recipes. Fall is all about pumpkins, so how about making some slime out of those seedy pumpkin guts? When you carve your pumpkin into a jack-o-lantern this year, instead of discarding the insides of the pumpkin put them to good use in some spooky slime.

In addition to a pumpkin, you will also need some Elmer’s glue and liquid starch. The result is some seriously gooey slime that is bound to provide hours of entertainment for the whole family. Get the whole recipe from Parenting Chaos.

Keep in mind that you’ll have to keep this slime refrigerated because it does contain a food product. Parenting Chaos points out that pumpkin-guts slime offers a great opportunity for sensory play and for kids to explore different smells and textures. Plus, it can teach them about recycling!

There are a number of other ways you can use pumpkin guts, such as for pumpkin body scrub, pumpkin butter and pumpkin dog treats, if slime isn’t your thing.

If you like the idea of pumpkin slime, but think your kids may not be able to resist giving anything made with pumpkin a taste, check out this taste-safe pumpkin play dough. You can add pumpkin seeds for more texture. This way they can play for hours and still sneak a taste as well.
